Default show off your custom drums!

I looked and looked for a similar thread on DW but couldnt find one, so here it is! lets see those custom drums. it doesnt matter if you ordered a snare drum from sjc, truth, risen, ect ect or ordered a full kit from tama's, pearl's, or dw's custom shop. even if you built it! if its custom and one off, then post it here!

my kit: built by me, jelly bean sparkle, all keller maple.

sizes:

kick: 20x20
first rack tom: 10x7
second rack tom: 12x8
first floor tom: 14x14
second floor tom: 16x14

Yeah, that's one cool kit! I love the jellybean approach. Brave & funky.

I have a Spaun maple custom as my gigging kit, but I won't post it in this thread. It's Keller shelled like yours, & a great kit, but custom, IMO, it's not. Ok, you can specify the finishes, etc, but you can do that with almost anything these days. Your kit is custom, a one of a kind, & very cool as a result.

Was the second floor tom originally a bass drum? Just wondering because of the claws and the wood hoops

thank you very much i appreciate all of the kind words! I can see where you're coming from with your spaun kit, but i think it deserves to be posted here! they are considered a "custom" drum company, and there obviously is a reason for why you chose them to hand make your personalized drum kit then the run of the mill tama or pearl.

at one time in its life it was a bass drum, but it works much better now as a floor tom

Nah, I bought them used. They just happened to coincide with the sizes & finish I like. Superb live kit though. Yours is very personal to you, mine's just a good drum kit.

Here's my 12x5" stave jarrah snare with 15mm thick shell. I put it in a Sleishman freefloating system.
I'm currently putting together a hammered brass 14x6.5" snare and have some VERY dense hardwoods drying in my workshop for my next batch of snares.
Also thought I'd throw in a picture of my woodblock.
Block size: 200x70x70mm
Slot: 12.5mm wide 50mm deep.

Woods:
Striking surface - Jarrah
Block: Silky oak.

The ridged striking surface is 10mm deep x15mm wide. Dragging your stick along the ridges creates a woody guiro effect. I made this 10mm high because over time I will be able to sand it back to remove worn/damaged surfaces. Jarrah is a very solid hardwood so it should outlast me.

Beautiful Jarah stave shell. Love the colour, but I'm super impressed with your block with twin timbers, just lovely.

Great work there Grunt. I bet that's a lively little devil. What finish is that? I like it very much, & have a real soft spot for piccolo snares.

It is a Min Wax finish called Siena Red I do believe and thanks. It will wake you up and it is also very sensitive.

Thanks KIS, here's a sound sample of the woodblock. I don't use it a lot, but when used in the right place it adds a nice bit of colour to the music.

It is the easiest drum in the world to tune! Each tension rod is connected to the t-rods adjacent to it so that as you tighten one t-rod, it is balancing the tension with the t-rods next to it. The 'Balanced' part of the title is referring to how tuning is balanced across the head.

With this drum, it is possible to change heads in about 1 minute, providing you've gotten comfortable with how it works.

I am still developing it and future models will be even easier to use. Glad you liked! :)

Solid shell ironwood, just a dozen or so of these were ever made. I play it as a four-piece now but look at the thread link to see it as a six-piece.
