A coated 2 ply head will get you what you're after.....1 ply if you like it ever so slightly more open sounding.

I've used Emps on both my Supras for years. I actually tried a Controlled Sound on my 402 today.......nice, but I preferred the sound of the Emp, so it went back on.

I go between an Aquarian Hi-Energy or an Aquarian Studio-X Coated with Power Dot on my Supraphonic 402.

The Studio-X is if I'm going to use brushes...everything else is the Hi-Energy - a killer head for hard rock (*try it and see if you can destroy it! Guarantee - it will last 3-4x longer than any other head you try, short of a Kevlar head).

I put an Ambassador X on mine and I love it. Single ply but 10% thicker than the regular Ambassador. Good luck.

In GNR, I have seen Adler use a CS Black dot, He uses Aquarian now, but I don't know which model.
Live, PR has used an Aquarian clear head with a Dot, and a studio ring for quite a while.
You could call Aquarian and ask. They will tell you anything you want to know, because who knows what PR used in the studio on the last few albums.

The Hi-Energy head sounds great for rock too.

I'd go coated Remo emperor or Evans coated G2 over an ambassador snare. Works for me, bonzo and alot of other guys using supras. Fat and powerful with plenty of volume.
