Default Sleishman pedal compatibility question

I'm really thinking about buying a Sleishman double pedal. My main practice kit is a Roland V-Drum set. My kick pad is a KD-85.

I have spoken with Sleishman on the phone and was told that I would need to attach a bar to the underside of my kick pad where a bass drum pedal clamps onto for the Sleishman double pedal to be able to work with my KD-85.

Do any of you play with this pedal using a V-Drum bass pad? If so did you need to modify your V-Drum pad to make it work? If so what did you do?

Also, being that the beaters are further spread out from each other on the Sleishman double pedal are they to far spread out to work on the KD-85 pad? I ask because the playing surface on this pad is not huge. But I have seen someone on youtube using this pedal on a bass drum practice pad that was small and it seemed to work well.

Hey drummingman,

I've been thinking about a Sleishman double pedal too - I'll be interested if it fits to your KD. By all accounts they're a really well balanced pedal(s).

Hey Drummingham,

If you haven't already, have a look also at the Off-Set double pedal. Here's a full review:

Product Review - Off-Set Double Bass Drum Pedal

There's also a link to an interview with the creator of the pedal in the article. It's a great pedal (I like it!).

I own both, the Off-Set ... and the Sleishman. The Off-Set attaches to the edge in the kick drum, just like 99.9% of all pedals do. The Sleishman actually fits under the kick drum, and grabs the width of the hoop (rather that the edge). So yeah, I can see where the Sleishman might not work well with some e-drum kicks.
