Super-2's are a 5 and 7 mil head, the Response-2's are two 7 mil plies. The Supers are apparantly pretty dead. Good luck.

The Super 2s are slightly thinner than the Response 2s; they're a little more open.

You may be thinking of the Performance II heads. They are sealed around the edge to give "that really deep sound on the tom toms" according to their website.

Cool, thanks guys. I have used Evans heads for years, but just fancied trying a real fat sounding head on this APK just for something different, its a kit i use for practise and seems to suite lower tuning. Maybe some Performance 2's then ?

Brady, I would've thought Supers would've been as you described, but I remember a review that says they were flat or something- probably after duct tape, moongels, a o-ring or three, and just Below wrinkle tuning. I trust you a lot more- it's good to know I can still trust logic! Supers, TC's, Modern Vintages, or Ludwig silver dots will be my next heads. Thanks.

Here's an old Aquarian video demonstrating the difference in their tom heads. The Super 2 isn't in it but the Performance II is.

You can really hear how dead it sounds near the end of the clip when Roy plays all the toms.
