Default Roland SPD-30 Octapad

Hey guys, sorry I'm just your average high school band director struggling with the increased use of electronics in indoor percussion.

I acquired the Roland SPD-30 and in attempting it to get what I need it to do (sampling) I have run into the problem it seems a lot of individuals have with the SPD-30... it doesn't sample :-(

I was wondering if in some technological genius way someone has found a way around this. I need to have the sounds of some clocks available to trigger along with some isolated words. With all of the brains out there and tech guys and gals I'm sure someone has come up with something!

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

You'd have to find yourself a sampler and trigger the sounds in that via MIDI from the SPD30. Or a synth that has the sounds you need in it to begin with. Yes, another thing to plug in and another audio output to go into an amplifier, but that's your only choice.

Did a salesman tell you it sampled?

I guess I'm wondering why you didn't get the SPD-S.

You won't be able to sample with the SPD-30. As Bo said, it doesn't sample.

Did you purchase the SPD-30 or are you borrowing it?

If you bought it and are still able to exchange it for the SPD-S - I would. Even if you lost a few bucks.

However it's possible you are borrowing it. If so, I'd look to borrowing another sampler, possibly even a keyboard that samples to get what you want.

Wish I had a better answer but the SPD-S is the only pad that does what it does.
