- Meinl Soundcaster Medium hats - 22" Paragon Ride Also, any suggestions on what other cymbals (crash, splash, china, whatever) that would sound good specifically with the Paragon ride would be much appreciated. Thanks.. Last edited by iburnitdown; 01-06-2011 at 05:19 AM. Reason: forgot somethiing |

I've never been one to worry about cymbals matching sonically.
If I want a ride with a loud ping and medium wash, I buy one. If I want a crash with a glassy sound and quick decay, I just get one of those. If I want a particularly trashy sounding china...well you get the picture. I do tend to buy only one or two brands or lines of cymbals, but thats just pearsonal preference for aesthetics.

The only cymbals that I ever worry about mixing together are crashes. Your ride and hi hats should have their own voice so to speak. But that is just my opinion, not a fact.

Do you already have these? If so, do you like the combination?
There are no rules when it comes to what kind of gear you play. If you like it, that's all that really matters. It's funny, really, all these artists have their own special dedicated lines or they use something that's so special to them and sounds so different....then they go into the studio and the engineer starts EQ-ing stuff and oddly enough, their cymbals sound like, well, cymbals! ;) |

Okay, cool. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the help! I guess I'll just go with what sounds good to me =) And, yes, I already have the Paragon ride because I thought it sounded great, but I was offered a good deal on the hats so that's why I was asking if they would mix well!
