Default Mapex 500 Double Pedal--what do you think?

Im gonna get a double pedal very soon, and I wanted to know if anyone has or has used the Mapex 500 Double Pedal. For $100, it looks like a very nice pedal and its got great reviews. While most people would yell "Iron Cobras!" or "Eliminators!" or "Axis!", not everybody has the money to dish out on those kind of pedals. And the biggest factor in speed and playing is technique and having it tuned to the players style and liking anyways, so those high-end pedals arent exactly necissary to an intermediate player. What do you guys think of the pedal?

Hi!
We have those pedals in our school, and quiet honestly, I think they do suck.
You can get better quality and more features for less money by just getting a good no name double bass pedal from one of the biggest OEM factories in Asia.

Chosen Fat/Lazer, if I remember correctly. (yeah I know it's a funny name)

Now, since you are in the US and I am in Europe I did a search who actually is selling
those pedals in your region using a different brand name.

Found something after 5 minutes:

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Double-Drum-...item4cf421c0cd

There ya go, apart from the foot board exactly the same ones as sold here in the EU.
Double chain, good bearings, and a over all stable and heavy construction.

I know the Mapex falcons too, they are awesome, but also more expensive after all.
The cheap Mapex ones on the other side are just unstable, they are noisy and just don't feel good, but that might be only me!

I've found smaller brands to be of higher quality and smaller price than big name brands, and I've looked at the pedal, and I'm definitely interested. It looks very nice. The full baseplate and dual-chain cams is definitely a big plus, and the 4-sided beaters I most definitely like. Have you tried out this pedal though? I'm wondering how smooth it glides.

I have the very same ones (apart from a different foot board) since 2 years.

I am happy with them and paid 92 bucks.

In addition to that I got a pair of yamaha flying dragons some weeks back.

I do like them more since their are direct link. I just think respond more direct than any chain drive I have ever tried.

It's just, you can't compare those to the ones I linked above. I paid the triple for the Yamahas.
