Default Fresh summer-tune

Hi guys.

Been a part of this community for quite some time, but haven't really posted anything. Really picked up some good advice and thoughts around here, so keep it up.

I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism on my own and my band's playing on our newest song - please share any thoughts.

We recorded the song last wednesday - therefore the mix is not finished just yet, but it's getting there :)

Really hoping for some response from you guys!

EDIT:

Okay, so I converted it to .mp3 to decrease the file size. Guessing people don't want to download such a big file, it's now reduced to 3,8MB. Would be really cool if you took the time to give it a listen ^^

I'll start by offering the caveat that this isn't my kinda stuff, but I thought it was very well conceived & arranged. Your drumming was crisp & kept the flow moving nicely. Good happy vibe to the tune that's very attractive in these days of gloomy music dominance. I didn't like the clap chant section. Would be better without the claps (I'm not a fan of that effect). Overall, I think your band is onto a good vibe. Perhaps the drum sound could have had a heavier feel to offer a bit more presence. Cool work, really!

Hey, KIS.. Thanks for the reply :)

We'll be working on the mix and try to get a finished result in January sometime. As you probably could hear, the clap section and the crowd-chant-thing following past that point isn't very well balanced in the mix. And the drum sound is indeed very ambient, but I kinda like it that way, even though it's probably a little bit too much at this point. We'll be experimenting some to get a better sound, for sure.

Too bad you didn't like the idea of a clap section, though, as we really dug it, hehe.. But I guess it's all just a matter of taste, and I respect it.

Take care

It's not that I didn't like the clap/chant section, it's more to do with not liking the clap effect. If it's recorded for real (band gathered round mic having fun), then that's a different matter. I like the ambience of your drum sound. Don't compress it too much, that's for sure. It just needs a bit more depth in the EQ, some careful reverb placement, and sitting with a touch more prominence in the mix. Exciting stuff eh!

Oh, well, okay. Actually both clapping and chanting was recorded by the whole band gathered round mic having fun, hehe.. Our main goal for this song was to give it a live-feel, so we've done as best we could in trying to convey that. I'll bring your suggestions to table.

God jul!!
