That's all that really matters.
Please Yourself, Be Yourself, Don't let what anyone else thinks alter your judgement.

I do like the black nickel.

I love sparkle finishes, and that's a good one. If you like it, that's all that matters.

On the other hand, I look back at some sets I've owned and wondered what the hell was I thinking?

If you do alot of weddings, Tony Williams yellow with red hardware does not mix in. I even owned a DW zebra finishply kit, and although it's predominantly black and white, I've had wedding parties just hate it. So I suppose I would look at the finish I choose as something that would be enough to make me happy, yet not stick out like a sore thumb. Unless of course, this set is just for you, and you have another one that does work. It's always good to keep a solid black drumset around in case you have to work a normal gig. I'm rather partial to Tama's gun metal gray.

Ditto what Bob said. The sparkle helps but I'm not a big fan of purple.

Love it Ania ! Just that hideous brown on the inside of the bass hoops has got to go. Brown and most colors do not mix IMO.

I saw that finish with the black nickel hardware in person and thought it looked terrific. I too would evaluate the different venues where they would be used. I believe that lacquer finish was discontinued about two years ago, if I"m not mistaken.

I really really like it for a female and it might be pretty cool for a open minded guy.

A little flamboyant for me but it is very pleasing to the eye.

Definately like black nickle hardware.

I don't like the colour particularly. I'm not bothered by any connotations of sexuality. I'm just not a fan of that colour.

If you have to ask, that means that possibly...you may tire of it.

Agree that a purple drumset would fit a female drummer better.

Yes that's sexist, but it's the truth. You will always have a few people that will say...what a wussy color for a guy. If that doesn't matter to you...it should, just kidding, but thats the risk with that color.

Sort of hits me as flamboyant, but not enough, a bit safe. If I was going for a stand out wrap, it would need to be "in yer face". Either that, or something of subtle beauty. Hell, if it ticks your boxes, go for it!

I love it! But that is coming from a guy who owns a white kit with rainbow sparkles (looks like a Gobstopper) and almost wrapped a project kit in pink satin flame.

I love loud looking drums, so I'd say roll with it.

I love it! Purple's more my girlfriend's color as I'm partial to red but put a flake finish on anything and I'll love it. I think that if you looked up "flamboyant" in the dictionary there will be a picture of me there.

I'm with Artstar on the stained hoops though. It clashes a bit. Maybe a black or a pickling stain would look better.

Those hoops are Bubinga to match the kit and Bubinga is dark colored. There is probably only a clear coat on the inside of the hoops.

I think you should consider zebra striped drums, Luis. You know me though...I am all into the animal print thing... RARRR!!!

I think that kit looks great! I probably wouldn't order it, but I wouldn't shy away from playing it either. I also agree with the others who've mentioned that the brown bubinga showing doesn't look super-cool. But then again, I've never like the dark look of bubinga anyway. If I had a bubinga kit, I wouldn't let any of it show (a little DIY silver sealer on the insides perhaps?).

Uh, No. I am way more of a natural finish person.

But like others have mentioned - if you like it, that's all that matters.

BTW, I believe the finish on those drums is called "Ultraviolet Sparkle". As I said before, discontinued a couple of years ago.

I really like that color with the black nickel hardware. Also, I actually like the dark bubinga hoops next to the purple. Though I wouldn't go with the purple because its too feminine for me.

I'm all for having a loud color so if you like the purple, I'd say go for it. . .

Beautiful kit. I would buy that in a minute if I was in the market. I never thought of purple as a "feminine" color...pink maybe, sure, but not purple. Personally I would prefer chrome hardware on it but it is a beautiful, well built kit. Buy it if you like it. I would play that kit out proudly anywhere.
