Default Midi Interface vs. Cable Adapter

When running an E-drum into a Sequencing program (I.E. Reaper), do you need to have a Midi interface? Why not just buy a Midi-USB adapter? They're much cheaper....

Any thoughts? I am looknig to do this but don't want to waste money.

Thanks!

Default Re: Midi Interface vs. Cable Adapter

you could buy an alesis trigger i/o if you want.
otherwise just run midi in/out of your module.

I wouldn't bother just using a midi > usb adapter, you will likely get horrible latency.
