Default Paiste 2002 Bonham Pack

I've noticed that Paiste has Bonham Cymbal Pack which consist's of 24" Ride, 18" Crash, 18" Medium Crash & 15" Soundedge Hi-Hat...The major player's have the pack listed at $1,249.00 (US)...I've been using lower to mid grade Zildjian which I really don't mind at all but would like to add "Pro" quality cymbal's to my newer Ludwig Classic Maple kit...I've tapped on a few of the 2002's at Drum shop's and they seem to have the qualities I'd like to have in my kit...In your opinion's, Would you consider this Package (Bonham 2002) to be a "sound" (pardon the pun) investment especially when I wouldn't really be able to line this set up and try them out with a kit..?...I dig the size's and line...Perfect for what I would need...And...This would be my last purchase of set of Cymbals...Actually, Would be my first and only set purchase...Appreciate the comment's...Thank you...

Are you looking to actually emulate Bonham's cymbal setup or do you just like the cymbals?

Bonham only had the hats in his setup (at least his most famous setup) and the rest were Giant Beats. I just scored a 24" Giant Beat on eBay for 230 bucks... if you're looking to emulate his setup, I know you can find the 18" and the 20" for cheap too and there's no doubt in my mind someone would have the 15" 2002 Soundedge hats (I've even played the 14" ones and they're pretty sweet, didn't know if I'd ever be a 2002 fan) out there.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it's really the best advice this forum gives here: look used... you'll always find a good deal.

Seems like an OK price, but you can find all those cymbals used for lower.

Bonham used 2002's (BG's were on the first album at least, maybe the second) for most of Zeppelin's days.
Giant Beats were discontinued by Paiste sometime in the early 70's....probably around the time they introduce the 2002's.
I remember reading that Bonham, Carmine, and a bunch of others were pretty bummed about the GB discontinuation.
He used 16" and 20" 2002's as well.

For that price, you do get a bag and the dvd's, and a warranty over used, but those cymbals are pretty available used on eBay.
I'd take a little time and check around before jumping into this pack, but 2002's are great cymbals.

Paiste currently offers the Giant Beats in 18" crash, 20" crash/ride, 24" ride, and 14/15" hats. They're great cymbals, especially for the old rock sound like Zepplin or The Who.

I would like to emulate Bonham cymbal sound as whenever I think of an album where the cymbal sound's stick with me, that would be Zepplin's 1st album...Especially the ride
(How Many More Times)...And being a product of the late 60's and 70's Paiste and Ludwig were Rock n' Roll...Lot's of great gear later on but I still love that sound...The appealing thing about the "package" set is that it's all right there, can do the monthly payment thing and those size's are perfect for me...I am intrigued by Giant Beat though...Isn't that Paiste's Primo Line.?.Or close to it.?.Your input is priceless Dude's...Thank you...

Whatever you do, do not pay through Musiciansfriend's monthly payment system, the interest on that is insane.

The Giant Beats aren't exactly Paiste's highest-end line, that'd be the Signature Traditionals, or the Dark Energies. However, that doesn't make the Giant Beats any less of a great choice for classic rock.

I got that set of cymbals new at a discount all separately for about $300 off the new price. I wish I had mixed in cymbals from other series. For my Bonham set, I should've have gotten the GB 24" and 20", the 15" 2002 SE's, and an 18" vintage 505, 2002 Medium or Crash, or DE MK1 crash.
Giant Beats, RUDES, and 2002's are all B8 cymbals, that are all great quality cymbals, IMO the about the same as Zildjian A's or K's. The Signatures, and Paiste's top of the line Trads and DE's are most like the K Constantinoples as far as quality goes (and pricing!).
However... if I could get anything for a Bonham kit, just to be ridiculous I'd get Istanbul Agop cymbals: 26" ride, 22" crash, 20" crash, and 16" hats.
Also, don't but from Musician's Friend if you can help it. They've been nothing but a problem for me and you don't want that. BUY USED!
