Default BD head logos

I'm looking at putting my band logo on my BD head. Trouble is, I play in two bands and need to swap logos. I've seen the removable logos that are available (eg. http://www.vintagelogos.com/vividskins.html) but like my BD sound with a 1 ply reso head and double ply batter. I'm worried that the logo will in effect add a second ply to my reso and deaden my BD sound. FYI, I add no dampening devices at all to my BD and have a 4" hole in the reso head.

So here's my questions:
- has anyone used these removable logos and how much did it impact on BD sound?
- what other options have people tried that have worked?

it impacts about as much as coving the whole headwith tape i suppose. i probly wouldn't get the WHOLE bass drum with a massive logo, just the name or whatever. just try it out and if you don't like it replace your head.

Uniin is correct, a removable logo will have quite an effect on the sound. I would recommend checking out the Inked by Evans heads to have them printed on directly.

Unfortunately, the custome Inked ones doesnt really fix the problem since he plays in two bands.

I have the EXACT same scenario. I havent done anything about it yet though, because the proper solution seems to be two different heads, but then swapping them and retuning for every gig. I am also very curious on the effect of the sound with the swappable ones.

Just by another drumset! JK

Or buy a second head and swap them out!

Thanks for the replies. Yep, playing in two bands means two different printed heads or removable logos. I'm going to go for the latter as I don't like the idea of having to continually swap reso heads...on top of the fact that we share gigs, which makes the head swapping scenario even less palatable.

I'm getting a thinner reso head and will get some removable logos made - not the ones that cover the whole reso head, just big enough for the name of the band.

I like my BD to resonate and use no muffling. I've managed to tune my BD so that with a two ply batter, 10-12mil reso and a home-made jarrah wooden beater I've reached a nice middle ground between jazzy boom and rocky punch. Hopefully my approach will help me maintain this sound.

Pacific Blue, I like your idea of a second drum kit. But somehow I suspect that the Minister (Ministress??) of Finance will not approve this expenditure!

Simple but expensive solution:

Get another bass drum with the other band's logo on it. That should do the trick.

Just remember to grab the correct drum on gig night!
