Default Groove Guide

Looking for a GROOVE GUIDE PRO 600 - Digital Drum Tempo Tachometer.

Monitors your BPM as you play--kind of like a metronome in reverse

Just spoke with the owner who said due to problems with finding components, the unit is currently not being manufactured and none in stock.

Anyone looking to sell one?

Good luck.

You could go with a BEAT BUG and a nice trigger.

I have a GROOVE GUIDE and a TEMPO REF, both have been used till they crapped out, then factory rebuilt. I don't have a BEAT BUG.

I'll be ordering the Beat Bug this morning.

Thanks again.

Will let you know how well it works.

On another note, just curious...

Were you happy with your Groove Guide when it was working?

Went with the TEMPO REF instead.

Had a nice discussion with the owner/inventor.

Thanks again for all your help.

GROOVE GUIDE has been rebuilt, so has the TEMPO REF, both are working.

You know, but for everyone else- BEAT BUG was first then TEMPO REF, then GROOVE GUIDE.

GROOVE GUIDE* does not have a metronome function.

GROOVE GUIDE is studier than TEMPO REF which has 1/8" inputs, GGuide 1/4" inputs. The first GG's had two input's, so theoretically you could read the kick and the snare, the cut it back to one input as looking for two (constant) numbers was a little over-kill.

REF uses batteries (two big button ones) GG wall wart. REF is auto off after 5 min, cool but not so cool, if you use it 50 times that's a little over 4 hrs of wasted battery time, also REF is turned on by touching either of the two task buttons, cool but not so cool when you store it and then the buttons get pressed inadvertently... battery drain, its happened to me a couple times, batteries are about $6 for the pair:(

GG is easier to work with live, you can turn the (sensitivity and gain) knobs with your sticks while your playing.

REF is great for rehearsals/practice, easy to find tempos with its tap function, GG is better live, but no metronome. Honestly if GG had a couple of the REF's exclusive features, it would be the end-all perfect piece.

* @ 2:20 of the vid, Chambers has the GG set too sensitive, even though it looks like he's not using it, it is being triggered. Normally you'd mount GG where you (or the whole band) can easily see it all the time.
