Hope you sit high, or your snare stand goes really low.

I sit too high because I have a pork pie throne which I hate, even with it all the way down its too high, going to get another throne and use this one as a bar stool. I have three snare stands and hopefully one will be low enough or I will cusomise one.

Thanks guys, my kit is all black so it should fit in well. Yeah, I think its going to have a really deep loud sound. The guy i bought it from was a Pro drummer and bought it new back in the mid 80s, It was in the Ludwig catalog back then, but never sold with a kit. I think I got a real deal on this, also bought some 90s Quick beats from him.

It was never intended as a kit snare, it's a basic marching snare (note the leg rest mounting holes to the right of the throwoff.) Judging by the badge and assuming that's the original throw-off, the drum dates from roughly 1979-1983.
Another widely used marching size is 12x15", so that would be even deeper. I have a '70s 12x16" marching snare, which I think was the last large production snare made. Bermuda |

I always liked the Black Diamond finish.
I'd have to check the catalog, but I think that's from the Challenger "line". Split lugs, and a regular P-85, instead of the Long Lugs and the heavier "Classic" strainer. Check the bottom edge (when you get it) because I think those drums didn't have snare beds cut into them. If that's the case, if you don't like the sound of it as a snare, you can use it as a tom, or as both! Have fun!!!

Yeah, that's it. Thanks for the correction. We had the 3 band, LL clear interior drums (sn, bass, tennor, tri's, etc...) in our line in HS, but in Middle School we had 2 banded snares (maybe 3 bands) with just the 1 center Classic lug, and split lugs on the bass drums.

It shouldn't be too hard to position in a stand. I have a 14x12 that fits low enough in either a dw9000 stand or the 50$ pdp one. :) sweet score!
