I was sent this on Facebook today by a friend of mine and thought it might be of use to fellow drummers. http://www.MetronomeTracks.net They are basically some free mp3 metronome tracks you can put on your iPod for practice. I just download them and they sound great. Enjoy! |

Weird. My metronome has a headphone jack. That seems to work pretty good.

Yeah well I don't have a metronome and I'm sure there are plenty of others out there who don't also - so it's a great alternative. But thanks for your 'useful' comment...

I would get a metronome imo. Having a different MP3 for each every tempo/beat combination could get tedious and hard drive consuming...
Although... you can make your own too, for free, using Audacity's "Generate Click" feature (which is nice when you're traveling and forget your 'nome). Another nice option is using notation software, that has MIDI playback, like Finale, Sibelius, or MuseScore (free/open source) and just making a simple one measure with 1/4 woodblocks or something and putting a long repeat around it. I did this to create "quiet count" play-along (3 measures of ticks, 1 measure rest). This is also nice because the tempo can be easily changed without creating a whole new file. |

Considering how inexpensive metronomes are and how cumbersome having to flip through an MP3 player would be.. I'd pay for the metronome. |

There are planty of free metronome downloads on the net. I think it would be easier to download a free metronome than have tracks on your ipod, unless of course you do not have a computer in your practice space.

I have used for shows and the recordings sounded dead on. Download it set to 60 bpm and time it. if it does sixty beats in one minute I would consider that accurate. I have been using this app for a while now. I have never heard it hiccup and I have tested with my other metronome at the same tempo, it was dead nuts on with it, I let them click together for a couple of minutes and nothing changed.

Most of the online metronome's I have used and heard are inaccurate. Majority are built using flash and are unable to be 100% accurate - it's a fact. Also people seem to think these days every second person owns an iphone or ipod touch - it's simply not the case. There are far more people out there with regular ipods that don't take apps and this will suit those people. Take it or leave it but I was just under the assumption this was a drummers forum where we try and help out each other as much as we can - my mistake? |
