Default Micing Drums

I want to mic my drum set at an affordable cost. I am thinking Shure SM57s and Beta 52A for the kick. I would also need overheads, but the only ones I've found are very expensive ($1,000+). If those who have experience micing drums/cymbals could provide a few tips and suggestions, they would be much appreciated!!

Apex 415's or even 430's. Dirt cheep, decent sound. Will work for other applications.
