So it's not your house anymore - but not a great loss.

We Europeans can't understand this kind of buildings over there in the USA. This house was built at the beginning of the 20th Century and looks like a house from the 17th century. Also some parts are early 18th century and the garden is Louis XIV.....lol. Ok, different cultures and no history of architecture over there - we would call it "Kitsch". The times houses were built like that, the Americans only had Wigwams....

Wow all you lucky people with detatched houses, mine is attatched with my neighbour's places, which means Its hard to play the drums because of the noise...but they don't really mind as long as its not too early or late.

Ouch, Bernhard, that's a little bitchy! The house might be a hotchpotch of different architectural eras but my first thought was still, 'Wow!! And it looks European - cool'. It's not like we in England only build ultra-modern houses these days. There are plenty of mock-tudor and neo-Georgian places going up; some are horrible, some aren't.

Lol - i just insist: just looks like the Matterhorn in Disneyland....
Best would be to have also a Garage....in Louis XV...but not high enough for the Coach and the horses.

jesus, you people are SLAYING me!!

i ain't got no house. we live in a friggin' tiny studio apartment. (but, hey, the building has a kiddie pool!)

homes are too damn expensive here. if we decide to move 2 hours north, maybe we can find something under $700K... in another 5 years. no, wait. by that time it'll be a cool million.

feh.

Wow, everyone here seems to live in fairytale houses. I was expecting to see a few more terraces from the English contingent. Clearly most people on drummerworld don't make their living playing drums.

Yeah, I was expecting a lot less home wise. I feel so poor...haha. I didn't expect cheap houses, but so many nice ones I definately wasnt expecting. Kind of intimidates you from putting your own house up.

I'm jealous of most of your houses, I got creaking floor boards, windows that open with a crowbar, dogs that don't shut the hell up, and poop green colored siding on the house.

Heh, perhaps not a LONG history, but still some of the best modern architecture in the world stems from the U.S. (and schools for that matter).

Ahh the small price to pay to live in N.Y. No thanks. I like my houses big and detached and I like having two cars and a place to park them ;-)

Chris, I couldn't find a picture of a sunny day here in N. Yorkshire, but I found this one of snow. Notice the distinct lack of neighbors, key to good drum practice sessions!

Yeh it's great having no neighbors, practice at my house is about the only time our guitarist has his amp on full ;-)

Though I'm not sure why, I can't say that I'm surprised at all that Dogbreath is from Vegas. Call it a sixth sense that former Vegas residents have. Great places, all of you, by the way.

cheers.

I didnt even look to see where dogbreath was from, I could tell by the first picture that he lives in vegas. I grew up in Vegas and moved last year to tucson.
the starter of this thread said that he wants to live in vegas? NO YOU DON'T. its a place to visit, not to live. its ssooo materialistic. all the fake lopsided b-oobs make you gag. also, all the houses look the exact same. dogbreaths is about the most diverse one Ive seen.. yet.. only by the fact that he has some greenry. all the houses are at max 15 feet away.

I dont know how you said you only live 5 min.'s away from the strip.. because I lived 1/2 mile from circus circus and it took atleast 5 min.'s to get there...
anyway, my parents live nextdoor to sickfreed and roys (sp?) mansion across the street from the meadows mall, and its got to be the OLDEST few houses in vegas... even then, its not so amazing. unless you like 115 degree weather and hopefully you have airconditioning in your car!

Dear god are all you guys porn stars or something? Some of these houses/cars are insane!

I don't have pics but I live in a house about 20 miles from the nearest town on the lake. I've got my drums in the guesthouse (a kind of small house for when people visit) which is attached to a 2 car garage, I'll take some pics when I get back from school in february.

I'll try to "borrow" my dad's digital camera and post some pics. But here's a description:
4 bedrooms,
4 1/2 baths
kitchen
family room
living room
dining room
grand foyer
study (my dad's)
as my mom still calls it a "playroom" I call it the "workout, tv, computer, homeschool room"
unfinished basement where my drums are
2 car garage
laundry room
all in brick 2 stories
But FYI: I'm not rich! My dad had a good couple of years a while back at his work.

PS: nice houses everybody!

I live above the piano store. The grey building at the far left is a building on the main Berklee campus. Plus, the blue awning to the right is that for a drum store (that's a bass drum you see).

My view.. kind of a lot of asphalt and traffic, but it beats looking out onto a dirty alley.

Well, all I can say is: That is my dream place!!! I love to live in a big city, in a cool flat not far away from music stores, universities...and (jazz) clubs... :-)

Man, I love it, truly love it!

as for my home in Gdynia, here's a GoogleEarth photo (don't have any 'normal' pics yet) :).

and yes, that is a cemetery (not exactly a piano store, but at least it's pretty calm down there ;))... kinda explains my fascination with New Orleans' dirges and second line stuff :P.

You most certainly did. There was (up until 2 months ago) a huge Virgin Megastore in the big 8 story building on the right side of the pic you quoted, and the Berklee bookstore is visible in my first pic, two to the left of my building, just past the little liquor store. You can just barely make out the red sign naming it as such.

That's cool! I think I bought the first Afroman album out there. It was a promo copy not for resale. hah! I think I bought it cuz I liked the cover- hadn't even heard his hit song yet. It's funny that I discovered him out there. Later on I found out a friend of mine who used to throw parties in Mississippi had him play once.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a tour of the campus. They said I had to come at a certain time and go with a group. A friend of mine graduated from there. I always wanted to attend but the tuition is just a bit beyond my budget. heheh
