Default Used cymbals? (Paiste 2002s)

Ive ordered a 22" 2002 ride and a 14" 2002 SE hi hat, and i was just thinking if theres any possibility that these cymbals are used. It does not say that they are used on the websites i ordered them from. Its red label and they were made like 30 years ago i think? correct me if im wrong. Are there still 2002s that are brand "new" and sealed?

Looks new to me. Nice choice on rides, by the way. I have the same one and love it (it's red label and only about a year old, so yes, these things are still being made).

Nice, thanks. What are the actual difference between the black and red labels? i know that the black labels are older but is there any difference in sound?

Black labeled 2002's are from the seventies and early eighties. Red labels have been used since their reintroduction in 1988, and they are still being made today.

The only difference between black and red labels, "officially", is the color of the ink. Paiste claims that the same "master" is/was used to make both, but "unofficially" there are a lot of drummers who claim that Paiste B8 cymbals (2oo2, Giant Beat, et al.) will go dead over time depending on how hard they're played and how well they're taken care of. I've heard just one 2oo2 20" Ride that a friend bought new in the early '80s, played the hell out of it, and while it's still around and otherwise undamaged today (no cracks, keyholing, etc) it sounds miles away from any new one you'll hear. It's much much darker and mellower.

I see black label 2oo2s from time to time on ebay but have a hard time getting excited about them because I don't know if, or how much, they've "mellowed" or "rolled over and died".

I just scored a mid-eighties 20" 2002 ride for $120
ebay rules!!

Can't wait to hear it in person...
from what I've read - this is an impressive ride that speaks classic rock like no other.....
