That IS a pretty cool drum! :) It looks like an Eames shell, probably birch. I am not a big fan of venting drums, but they do have a good purpose of drying the sound out a bit which was pretty popular in the '70s, drier drum sound.
Congrats on the neat find! |

looks like it could be ludwig superclassic strainer,I have an Eames kit,but I believe Eames shells in the 70's were 3 ply birch with a maple re ring, they changed to a straight sided shell early 80's I think, but I guess you could have ordered a 3 ply no rings but it would have been pretty thin.Eames shells also usually had a wooden air hole grommet, but that is probably a moot point here.

Is it a George Way?
If so, it may be a prototype and quite rare and valuable. George Way started Way Drums and Camco, who gave DW the turret lugs and Tama the "modern" bass drum pedal and "modern" double bass pedal. A brilliant man. The lugs and strainer match his designs. |

The strainer is a Ludwig, identical to the one on my 12-lug marching snare I played in high school.
