I've never seen him live but I would like to. I don't know what Tommy Aldridge is doing. I saw Lizzy, (they were supporting DP.....I went to see The man. Mr. Ian Paice). Tommy Aldridge played great in his own style. I thought Tommy was overkill for Lizzy.....imho, he didn't suit the band, who although heavy, their songs to me have a slight pop feel. Tommy didn't overplay he was good, but stuck out. Probably only drummers would have this opinion.....or not.

Amazing! Thin Lizzy will not be the same without Phillip Lynott, that's for sure. But having Brian Downey back in the throne, makes a big difference.
Thunder & Lightning.....it hits you like hammer......

Had the pleasure of seeing them on the Jailbreak tour in a small theater - they were amazing. That was the best lineup, IMO.
Always liked Downey's powerful yet tasteful playing (plus he was a Rogers player). |

This is the ad.
![]() THIN LIZZY HMV HAMMERSMITH APOLLO | Saturday 22 January 2011 Thin Lizzy is one of rock music's most recognizable names. After 24 years have together, the world has changed, but the amazing body of work that is Thin Lizzy still retains all of its vibrancy and influence. Led by alumni Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton, the stellar lineup is completed by Def Leppards Viv Campbell on guitar, Bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and The Almighty's Ricky Warwick on vocals and guitar. .

Wow! I'm a huge Lizzy fan and I love Downey's work. I wish I could have been around to see them and Sabbath in the 70's. When I first started listening to them naturally I looked them up on Wikipedia and I was really surprised to read that they're still touring. "How the hell can they tour without Lynott?!" Personally I'd chalk that up to the same standards of the new Guns n Roses, A glorified tribute band. Albeit one with a killer drummer and guitar player.
...Oh well, just my 2 cents.

I agree.
As I said, I saw then when they supported D Purple about 3 years ago. To me it's not Lizzy without Lynott, but it seems that folks love the songs & want to hear them live. It's all down to the songs.
