It will be very muddy with little to no "crack". The shell is too thin.
If you want a huge fat "80's" thud, then that's what should be expected. Don't forget the snare beds if you expect any good articulation. yes, I did this before many years ago. It was fun but now you can just buy an inexpensive 13 and roll with it. |

If you live anywhere other than the UK then this is no help but there's a custom drum company here called AD Drums who cut down old/disused toms of various sizes, redo bearing edges, snare bed etc and put snares on them.
All you do is email them asking about 'Altered Designs' and tell them the size of the tom, how many lugs there are and go from there. I haven't yet got the money for it right now but when i do i'm definitely getting my 13" turned into a 13"-5.5" snare. And they also finish it in any way you want too. And i do not endorse them lol xoxo

You may also need to invest in a short snare drum stand depending on how low you can get yours to sit. But snare beds are almost a must to have the drum sound decent.

I play a 13X9 snare... I sit at a normal height, and use a standard snare stand. You just have to open the legs all the way, and have the post all the way down. But it works with a standard snare stand.
