Default Comparing remo - aquarian

Hi,
I'm currently playing on Aquarian super-2's (coated on batter side, clear on resonant side) and I'm considering a switch to Remo head's. What I'd like to know is whether it's safe to say that Aquarian super-2's and Remo Emperors are basically the same kind of heads (since they're both 2-ply) but simply from a different brand. Or is there really a difference between the two. Because if there isn't much of a difference in sound or durability, then I'd make the switch since remo heads are considerably cheaper.
Or am I comparing the wrong head models with each other?

Tom

No. Super 2's aren't comparable to Remo Emperors. Aquarians Response 2 heads are more comparable to Remo Emperors. The Super 2's are 2 ply like you say but the the top ply is 5 mil and the bottom ply is 7 mil . Remo Emperors are 2 plies of 7 mil . I don't think there really is a Remo head that is comparable to the Super 2. Here is a comparison chart I found on Aquarians site. http://www.aquariandrumheads.com/pro...ide-comparison

Thanks! That's a very helpful guide. Too bad it doesn't speak about the super-2's though...

Yeah I noticed that too. The list was put together before the Super 2's but you would think that they would have updated but , I guess not.

The Response IIs are comparable in design, but neither are really comparable in sound. Aquarians have a much rounder, softer, and focused sound overall whereas Remos are much brighter and have more overtones and attack. Chances are that if you like the Super-2s, you won't hate Emperors, but they're not the same sound.
