Default Upgrading drum pedal - DW 4000 / DW 5000?

Hi, Im looking to upgrade my main pedal and was wondering if anyone could give me any help with the dw 4000 or 5000 pedals?

Firstly, do they last (i'm looking for something that isnt going to break and then be expensive to repair)

also, would the 4000 be a conciderable improvement on a basic pearl pedal (came free with my first forum kit).

and, of the 4000 and 5000 pedals, which would be better? It's mainly just a pedal for practice right now, but might be used more frequently too. Is the 5000 worth the extra cash over the 4000?

5000 no question. The DW 5000's a pro pedal in my opinion, my buddy's got the 9000 and the 5000 beats it in feel, but I prefer heavier pedals so... The 9000 is a lot lighter for sure. But between 4000 and 5000, again, 5000 no question. Hope this helps and good luck with your search!

Between those two hands down the 5000!

Have you played on one to see if you like it?

unfortunately i haven't played on one cos i can't really get to a shop that stocks decent drum stuff.

i was going to buy used though (that way if i didnt like it i could get most/some of my money back) and i'm mainly going off what other people think about the pedals ive looked at. they seem to have great reviews

You want to go 5000's for sure. You should test the AC and standard out and see which feel you like better. (if you can)

The 5000 would probably be the last pedal you buy for a very very long time. Just think, if you spend a little more for it, you will not be blowing money on another pedal upgrade later.
