Default The weight of the snare.

So, i saw this on a thread a while ago but can't (be bothered to) find it and can't remember the replies so i thought i'd kind of ask it again.

Presumably the weight of the snare on the stand has some sort of affect on the resonant heads tension. And if so would it be particularly noticeable?

Bear in mind, i have a 14 - 6.5" Brass Pearl Sensitone. It's quite heavy...

Default Re: The weight of the snare.

I have 6 snares, all of differing weight. I tune/tension the reso to where I like it and have never noticed putting any drum into a snare stand to have an adverse affect on the tension of the reso, due to the weight of the drum alone. There's more of a noticable difference by having the snare basket too tight on the drum and choking it IMO.
