Default Paiste Dark??

Hey what's up guys. I play drums for church and I feel the cymbals are not the best sound that it could be. A couple months ago I was at a retreat with one of my friends and he had a set of Paiste Darks(?) I think and they sounded really good. I almost want to say that it sounded smooth and rich as opposed to the cymbals that come in the pack. Cymbals are extremely expensive, but I feel like if I want to take my band to the next level as far as sounding rich then I think I might need to invest in some good cymbals

I really like a full sounding cymbal that kind of sounds like Bernard Purdie's set here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FX_84iWPLU
I know I said I want to invest in good cymbals, but I need to be reasonable with my college budget(which is not too much.) If you guys can help me out and direct me to a good set that I can get started with that would be great.
Also, does maintaining your cymbal help with the sound quality? Like cleaning it after everytime you use it? Thanks guys

Default Re: Paiste Dark??

Were they the New Signature Dark Energies?

I used to have a 19" DE crash and it was a great cymbal, very warm, low pitched but still projected.

I haven't heard that many good things about the rides in the New Sig. line, but Paiste Twenties are another great dark/warm cymbal line, and the Twenty ride is an absolute killer!
