Default Gretsch Snare 6lug today on Ebay - Resotration coming up

I saw this and couldn't resist bidding. It's first time I've been involved where the bidding went down to the second! Wasn't expecting that. It's WAR out there!

It's a good think I don't have lots of money because I'd be out there collecting.

I got the drum for a reasonable price I think - and besides I think the badge is worth as much or more than the $76 I paid for the drum. The seller says it's a 14x5 1/4 so maybe it's had bearing edge work done in the past (cut down from 5.5??).

I will probably try to restore it with 'era' parts - I don't think I'll sell it - I'm thinking of the person that ends up with it many years (I hope) from now. It may be tough finding the 50's/60's 6 hole die-case hoops.

These are low quality photos from the seller's eBay listing.

That's funny, but only the shell. That looks like fun. You'll have to see what it takes to remove the badges since I have seen them on eBay for some good cash.

Ya - I think it will be a fun project.
I've seen some badges for sale on eBay. There's one on there now - a little high I think, but if someone wants and needs it - they'll pay.

Or - I just may send it back to Mr. Fred Gretsch to see if he will refinish it - haha.

The stickers that came out after this had that Guarantee removed.

I'm looking for the hoops.............I see one for $119 - Good price I better grab it hu?

Cheers,
