I really really like the combinations (though 3 I think might be overkill for me -- I'm not a concert/symphonic players) having 2 would be really nice though (I think the earlier ones did) BUT ideally, I'd like beefier strand counts -- like 14/16 or so (the stock pearl are 8 I think) and they are relatively skinny I think Yamaha makes one (the latest Dave Weckl one?? - never played one, or even seen one in the flesh) Q1 : are there other ones out there? (I know there are a couple of other symphonic - "skinny snare" ones, but anything with bigger snares? Q2 : anyone ever to a retrofit? (like just responsitioning and making room for dual strainers) any problems I should watch out for (like having to move down a diameter in snares or problems with the strainer not being across a the diameter and being at a wonky angle) any other thoughts would be appreciated thanks guys |

![]() They use a special shallow G strainer type, so it fits neatly side by side. ![]() Same goes for the but (but that is a standard butt) For the Grand Symphonic Stave snare they use a special three way strainer: ![]()

Cool - thanks
yeah the concert multi-strainers are cool (I'm diggin the pearl one right now) but the one's I've seen definitely seem more suited to the pretty mellow 6-8 or so strand snares (I'm thinking more like 14-16) any idea if Yamahahahaha sells the strainer HW by itself?? I only ever see the weckl one in black right now (is the stained wood older or a refinish or something?) |
