Default Pain After Using Gloves??

I recently bought a pair of Ahead Joey Jordison sticks, wrapped them with grip tape and took out an old pair of my drummers gloves, just for the hell of it. I practiced with my band last night, wore the gloves for the first hour- decided I didnt like the feel, and then took them off. Felt better without them on. Today I woke up and had pain in my thumb and elbow tendons....which I hadnt had for a long time since using light wood sticks. I love the rebound and balance from the Aheads so I want to keep using them in that respect. Is it possible that I was gripping too hard with the gloves on to make up for the lack of feel and thats what caused this pain? Has anyone else had this kind of issue from gloves?? I cant imagine it is from the Aheads, since they claim to have the opposite effect.

They are all fun until your friends see it.

Yes, two things come to mind.

Grip is too hard and if the glove is too small or fits too snug your fingers are working against the resistence of the glove (isometrically) and trying to hold on to the stick. I would try to get a larger pair and see if that helps. I only use one glove on my snare hand. If you are already at XL glove, have someone with huge fingers wear them for a day and stretch them out. I have not had elbow pain before but have had finger pain because of small gloves.
