Now clearly I can buy one at this website but as I play a Mapex kit having one that says Pearl would look pretty dumb. If anyone knows where I can get a plain one of any alternatives let me know. Kevin

I understand removing the mount off the bass drum for a cleaner look, but as for covering the hole, I doubt anyone will even notice unless they walk up to the kit (in other words, the audience won't tell a difference). I also doubt it will affect the sound of the drum, particularly if you have a ported reso.
Having said that, I also appreciate covering the hole if it bothers you because you see it everytime you sit at the kit! Before Pearl started making that BB3 blockoff plate a few years ago, many folks on the Pearl forum were making their own plates out of various things including aluminum drink cans. |

Ok that's good advice thank you. I just think it will start to bother me just seeing a hole in the top of my bass. I was thinking as one option of using some thin rubber cut to shape, but really wanted the proper thing.
