I've used the Aquarian studio - x coated 14" on my chrome snare and it is excellent for rock.
The coating last a long time.
The head is sensitive.
It records well.
It has a lot of punch without a lot of ring.

I have also used them on my toms.
They recorded real well.
They had a lot of punch.
They had little overtones.

When I was done recording with them I peeled off the sound rings and I am using them on my toms without the rings. They sound a lot like the Remo Coated Ambassadors with the rings removed.

I only tried the Studio-X clear with powerdot for my steel snare to get that focused 80s sound.

The power-thin were discontinued a long time ago so I think that head is probably old stock. FYI, you can look at logo and see if these have the new or old logo. I dont think the New Orlean fit your music, the Power-Thin is probably old and may fail within few days or month. The Hi-Energy was developped for hard hitters. I would finally opt for for the coated Studio-X which is suitable for Rock and can be used in Metal. IMO, you'll get a good tone without harsh overtone without losing sensivity & projection.

You're welcome, I hope that you like the head.
You and I share the same day of birth.
