Default Doublebass pedal issues (main pedal feels heavy)

Hi guys.
I seem to have a problem with the main pedal on my DW 7002 double which I am using on my practice pad.
The slave pedal feels light and smooth and bounces nicely, but the main on the other hand is a different story. it makes some ugly noises and doesn't bounce like it should. So I have to use more energy with my right foot and it's a bit hard to keep it steady.
It's kinda like driving a car with the handbrake on if you know what I mean. :p

I've tried adjusting the tension on the spring etc, but it doesn't seem to help.
Could the spring be broken or is there something else?
I'm pretty new in the game so I can't really tell, so hoping someone with experience could help me out.

Tnx

Maybe I just need to put some kind of oil on it? Any thoughts?

I just sprayed some "chain oil" that I use on my bike and it seemed to do the trick. :)
