Default The Best budget kit out there.

As it says in the title, what is the best affordable kit available to the common man. Me, for example.

Maximum expenditure would be preferably around £300

New or used? Please specify. I recommend used. What kits are you considering? You must have looked at some. How many drums do you want to play? What type
of music?

Your price range is just under $500 US Dollars for the American members.

Ditto, new or used. 300 pounds used will bring a much better kit than 300 pounds new. My Renowns cost me 650.00 USD when they were selling for 1400.00 USD, and they were 6 months old and never set up. I realize that the guy just wanted them gone, but the idea is that there will be others out there.

Yes, but i feel that most (about 70%) of a drums sound is down to the heads and tuning. Obviously there are other characteristics which contribute to that but even so just a batter head change and slightly different tuning can drastically change the sound.

And also people on the forum have said that used pro or mid-level kits can be found for about £300 or so, they send a link and its about 400-450 saying that it's not too much over £300. I'd rather spend no more than 300, and that budget is unfortunately non-negotiable considering i'm a student making very little money very slowly and I also need cymbals and snare heads more because that's what i bring to all gigs.

I absolutely agree with everyone that used is the best bang for the buck. Where do you live (city)? If you let us know what town you live in, we can direct you to used bargains in your area.

If you lived in the USA 300pound= $468USD. The best set you can get with cymbals is a Pacific drums z5.

There are cheaper off brand kits like pulse, SoundPercussion, etc. But PDP pacific is a well known name brand offering their entry level kit with hardware for $300. You just can't beat that. I'm assuming that their cymbals are total crap so you're going to want to get some other ones.

or

grand total= 450 USD with the zildjians, 470 USD with the Meinls. All you'll need is sticks, an extra cymbal stand and a throne. Oh and some decent chops/ grooves/ Fills
