Default Need help. Need better Heads

So I just got a new kit. D2 DDrum. But the heads are horrible. So I want them to replace them so they sound sooooo much better. I also am replacing the cymbals. and adding a few as well. I play rock and punk. and I wanna work my way to something fast beat and harder. so I need good pads. So anything could help!

Thanks kyle!

Hi again mate.

I would not worry so much about playing fast and hard as yet. Concentrate on accuracy. Anyone can play fast, but accuracy separates the men from the boys, so to speak.

As for heads? I recommend you go with yesterday's advice and use pinstripes for a while. They will last a long time and hold their tone. I know you've got a newborn at home so pinnies will actually save you money in the long run. You can leave the stock reso heads on for a while.

Evans make a good bass drum head called an Emad that I can recommend.

I'd go with Evans EC2 on the toms. They'll give you that low, defined tone, and should last a while since they're two ply. For the snare I'd use Evans ST Dry or EC Reverse Dot. For the kick, my preferred head for pretty much anything is Remo Powerstroke 3 with an appropriate patch.

But wy yung's suggestion is also good and will work great in your situation.

Forgot to mention a snare head, you could use a coated Emeror. Again a remo.

Here is a page for clear Remo heads.

http://www.remo.com/portal/products/.../ds_clear.html

Coated http://www.remo.com/portal/products/...ds_coated.html

The P1 mentioned on the thread is also a great bass drum head that will last.

From those pages you can have a look around Remo's website. Evans, Aquarian and Attack also make great heads. But for your purposes at this stage in your drumming life I reckon pinnies on the toms, a coated emperor on the snare and either a p1 or Emad on the bass drum.

Two plies of mylar plastic. Check out the site. They have loads of info there. Be sure to google the other brands as well.

Geez, there's so much to Google for drum stuff! It can be intimidating. Even to me after more than 30 years drumming.

Have fun. And don't forget to come up for air. ;-)

It's the heads on the bottoms of your drums, the ones you don't hit. But wy yung is right, there's no need for them to worry about them yet.
