Bongo placement on a kit

Hey drummers! I recently acquired a nice Meinl bongo set that I would like to ad to my kit alongside the hi hat.I'm aware of the pricey stands by Gibraltar and the like to facilitate this but was wondering because I'm so damn cheap (frugal) if anyone has rigged something up themselves that worked.
The bongos in question don't have a hole drilled through the center divider.Thanks in advance for any help and or suggestions.
