I recently bought a set of used DW's and have noticed that one of the serial numbers is not consecutive with the other 4 drums that are in this set. Also, the date stamped inside the shell is a couple of months different. Does that mean that the drum was replaced? Does it have any impact on the resale value of a set? It's not a collector series, just the Workshop Series that was built in Calif. in 1999, but it is very clean and sounds great. Does anybody have any idea approx. what the resale value is for a very clean 1999Workshop Series shell kit? The seller claimed that the set sold for $2400 new in 1999 and from what I have found on the net it was a very well made set. 22 Bass 14 x 5 Snare 10,12, & 14 toms in stained & oiled finish Thanks |

First off, welcome to Drummerworld. You said you just bought the kit a little while ago. What did you pay for the kit? That's probably what it's worth. DW kits are very well made. But so are all the flagship kits from all the major makers/brands. Recently, I've seen some very nice DW kits sell in the neighborhood of $1000-$1200. Finally, we like pictures. Eye candy. Post pictures of your kit, so we can drool.

Just because 1 drums s/n is different may mean nothing more than the fact that it was added later.

they may have felt the matching worked better in that particular size from a different month.....DW matches them up and maybe the shell built with the rest was not quite whre they wanted it?
