Default My own homemade practice drumset!

So,here it is... I'm really proud of myself! :) It took me some 3-4 weekends but it's finally done. I made it from scratch, with very little tools. It was grand total of around 100$ including HQ real feel pad. Construction is made of wood, painted ebony black, pads are my own idea (4 mm of silicone poured on a wooden pad) and the rebound is really good! It was a lot of work (maybe 80-100 hrs) but it was all worth it IMO. And I mean , 100$??? :D

Wow, very nice. You really should be proud. How does your custom pedals feel?

And proud you should be. That looks killer. I had one of those Remo practice pad kits years ago.........let's say your DIY looks way more like functional modern art. Your practice space looks very cool, as well.

Interesting, You even made the pedals. It looks better than the practice kits that I have seen.
You should do a vid of you playing it.

Shucks, I can't see the pics, hopefully it just a work computer filter type thing and I can see it at home.

How do you find the feel of this construction compared to real drums? Are they quiet as well?

I have done some own manipulations of an old kit in the quest for silent practice. I put mesh heads on old acoustic drums and then the HQ sound offs on top of them, as the mesh heads by themselves were way to bouncy. I just have to come up with some way to keep the mesh heads from bouncing off the mesh, Duct tape didn't work, so I will begin experimenting with some type of glue. Notice I did say "old" acoustic drums!

Well, if you include your own labor costs, you probably need to tack another $1000 or so onto that price tag. :)

But ... wow! That's some fine work! Are the pads adjustable at all, or are they permanently stationed in those positions?

home-made longboards.... ghehe

Would it be an idea to make a wooden rack for normal drums, or would they be too heavy for wood?? It would be a lot cheaper.

I can think of several reasons why it probably wouldn't be the best of ideas. Nice practice kit i must say, most people would just use their normal kit pedals with their practice kit but clearly that wasn't good enough for you lolz.

Pearl Demon Drives couldn't hold a candle to those pedals! lol

But seriously, that's sick man I was slightly shocked that you even made the pedals. Good job man, now you just gotta sell that idea to a major company and sit back on a fat stack of cash.
