Default How does drum mics work?

Can someone tell me how drum mics work and what I need to record my drums?

The simplest way to record is to buy a mic like this that plugs into the usb port on your computer.

I use one frequently when I want a decent recording without doing a full mic up of my kit.

Otherwise you will need multiple mics. One for each drum and an overhead along with a mixing interface to plug them all into.

I recorded the file below with the single usb mic.
