Default Metro Stave Shell Rosegum Kit

Thought i'd show you guys my recent kit. It's a custom made kit, Australian Wood (Queensland Rosegum) Stave Shell. 10x7, 14x12, 16x14, 22x20. The Snare is a 12x4.5 New South Wales Brushbox. It's heavy, but absolutely worth the haul! The last pic is with the 12x8 Tom as well.

Please let me know what you think.

Cheers, it's a beautiful sounding kit, so resonant. The finish is an amazing paint job as well.

Great drums but I'm not a fan of the aesthetics at all. Paul makes great drums.

Regarding the first photo; is the bell on your ride cymbal big enough?

Wow, what a gorgeous kit - and stave too! What is the Metro Company? Great hardware and accessories also. The big bell on the ride must sound really spanky. Best drum porn I've seen here in a long time.

Australian woods are amazing and I am a devotee also - my kit is made of Cooktown Ironwood from Queensland.

Cool finish, it reminds me of a similar Tama one.

Love the way the wood looks, killer looking kit!

...but I'm still waiting for a picture of the 8"x12" tom. Hee hee.

Very nice and interesting kit! Reminds some Unix kits.

Concerning this very thick snare: what does it sound like? Would be nice if you could post some sound clip.

Is that deep red the natural colour of rosegum? Looks very interesting. The kick drum must sound like an atomic bomb! I have a 13x7 stave snare... every time I play a rim shot on that, somewhere on earth a cute fuzzy kitten dies.

Haha, yeah, it's a weapon. I honestly think it would take a bullet. I only use that cymbal for metal, nothing else.

Metro drums are handmade here in Queensland, it was made to my specs, and I feel very honoured to own a kit, as they are beautiful drums - also very heavy.

I hadn't seen the Tama finish when I'd ordered the kit, I had actually seen a similar SJC kit, and I liked it. I've had a few people think that it's a Tama.

Here is a pic of the 12" Tom included (not my pedals)

I'll post a clip of the snare shortly - I usually use the snare as an auxillary off to the side, and when sound guys put a mic near it, I warn them! It's LOUD, and makes a great timbale sound with the snares off.

Yep - the rosegum is a gorgeous red, the kick sounds phenomenal, so deep but still heaps of punch. It really is a winner - makes it worth the load in. But i've got the suitcase kit if the load in is too bad - it just doesn't sound the same! haha

Thanks again - any other questions, feel free to ask!

Have seen your kit around a fair bit on the Drum Cartel's site and on Metro's myspace.

I've got a 10x6 Metro Jarrah block snare and man it's an awesome little drum. I've been playing Matt Bartlem's 14x9 Jarrah block snare as well and am blown away by the balls that thing has. Your drums must thunder. Love the finish as well.

Yep - she's a weapon! I think I'm going to get a snare soon from Paul, just can't figure out what I want. They're beautiful instruments, with the most amazing attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Yeah, I'd love to hear a sound clip, especially the snare. Personally, I'd have preserved the stunning internal finish on the outside. But hey, it's your kit! Beautiful piece of work. Congratulations!
