I love playing one up 2 downs, when i get my crash i'll switch to it and the setup should be like this;

14" meinl mb10 hats
18" k custom dark crash
20" k custom ride
20" meinl mb10 ride (but will be used as a crash, has great qualitys) :]

George

Okay so we played a gig at school, and to be honest the venue being my school was complete and utter garbage :P

But we got the experience of playing on a stage in front of about 150 people and managed to get them ALL participating and joining in, so it was a fantastic experience and we've been asked to play another gig later in the year :)

Thought i'd post some pictures of the gig, well, the band members except for the singer, just the people who actually play instruments :)

Please ignore the tom angles, it was a very rushed setup :P And yes we did have more amps just their not visible in these shots :) Hop you enjoy.

The tom angles look fine to me. That's cool that you got the opportunity to play a gig like that. It's also pretty cool that you jam with chicks. What kind of music do you play?

Well we kinda play all sorts or whatever we feel like at the time :)

The bass player is part indonesian, she plays acoustic guitar, but picked up bass last summer and is absolutely fantastic, also shes like 5.5" so is super cute to have up front :P

Very nice kit and congrats on your gig at the school. All playing experiences can be a great learning process. Take a look at where this world famous rock band started out!

Yes it's Rush. Point is they had to start somewhere and it was the same type of gig you had. At a local school. Who knows where Your career may lead!

Haha thanks jeremy, just have to wait and see what happens :) i guess i hope for the best, as music is the only thing i've only really specialized in :L And as i said was a fun gig to play, getting the whole year group on it's feet who may have considered us a "write off" band was an awesome experience :)

I may have told a bit of a lie earlier in this thread :P At the moment i only have my k custom ride, although i assure people the crash is on it's way over summer :L And yeh, the 9000s are killer! Really smooth lovely action to them :)

Many thanks, George.

Hey Fishgopop, thanks for checking out my meridian kits and the good compliments man. I really like your setup. I want to eventually get a double tom mount like you have and mount my two toms offset to the left of the kick like how you have yours.

But the sparkle finish on yours is killer. Is it a wrap or a lacquer? I'm thinking a wrap but not sure. It looks really good though. Cool gig pics too. It's always fun to see who sits behind the kit.

What heads do you prefer on those birch shells? I'm thinking of getting clear G1's or something similar to that on mine. But what have you found works well with these shells?

Haha thanks for the kind words man :) I like having the offset toms, it kind of gives me the whole range of tunings but feels slightly more like a 1 up 2 down kit :)

The sparkle finish is a wrap but at only 700 i just could not let this kit pass, being limited edition as well :P

On it right now im using clear emperors, although my next set is going to coated emperors, the clears work amazingly getting a huge fat tone out of the toms :)

Hope this helps! George.

Well i moved my drums into a different room in house, changed the setup around a bit and added a few additions :)

First off i went back to a 1 up 2 down setup, but with a 10" rack tom instead of a 12".

Then i decided that i wanted to use both my ride cymbals, so i started using both.

Then i bought some new hi hats, a set of Zildjian k/z's second hand for 150 :)

I added a kick port to the bass to boost the low end, and it certainly does :D

And of course, the cowbell has returned!!!

Hope you enjoy :)

Cheers jack :) I sure do love them, they sound sweeeet, and i love the k custom ride as well, all the cymbals kind of "mish" together very well :)

The hardcore beater i got with the kick port and some brushes, which was only like a week ago, but it's fantastic :D and my drum teacher said he might be interested in buying the old stock dw beater as a spare for his pedal :)

George.

Hi xl1, I personally did not wrap these drums, they came with the wrap already on, part of what makes this kit limited edition :)

But no, it may sound hard to swallow, but when a drum is wrapped it sounds no different, unless it's super thin drum shells.

Hope this helps! :) George.

Okay jack, unfortunately for you i went back to a 2 up 2 down because of the stuff im playing i need an even spread of tones, i also cut down on the amount of cymbals because i just found i just wasn't using them all, also space is an issue now :) Pics shall follow tomorrow :)

Cheers, George.

16" wuhan ;) Obviously the pinnacle in chinese cymbal technology, hand crafted and all ;)

I figured "china cymbals probably break easier, so i'll get a cheaper one and a splash" :L
