Here's my new Gretsch Maple Kit and Sabian cymbals. Had the whole set up for almost a month now. I'm coming from a Yamaha DTXpressIII. Man, I love acoustic way more than electric... Drums only... Guitars, that's another story!!

I will be changing the heads in another week or so

Keep Rocking!

Another view.

Congrats on the new drums. They look good, man! Other than the rid cymbal, I also use the Xs20's and love them.

Here's mine. It's nothing special to some of you I suppose, but it's mine and it's special to me.

It's an older PDP black 5 piece set; 12" 13" and 16" toms with a 24" kick and chrome 14" chrome snare. Remo Ambassador coated heads.

Cymbals as of now are 14" ZBT Hats, 20" ZBT Ride, 14" ZBT Crash, 8" ZBT Splash, and a cracked, hole-filled 18" China hopefully to be replaced by an A Custom 18" EFX.

Medium sized Pearl Cowbell, hence my signature. I use a Mapex P500TW Double Bass Drum Pedal, and various medium weight stands that I've found on sale at various places. I use a snare stand to hold my high-tom.

MUCH MoonGel.

Yes, that's a cat toy in the upper right.

It most certainly is comfortable - and my throne has a backrest, which provides even more comfort!
Definitively a "slight" Harland influence, I'm thinking of purchasing an Zildjian EFX too just to mimic his hi-hat sound. It would destroy my Byzance Jazz collection though, and I'm too attached to having matched cymbals...

Hey briun 21 - nice kit!

I didn't know Axis hardware was made to be double braced. How do you get on with them? Are the memory locks just for memory?

pchanning,

gracias. I live the Axis stuff. So light and easy on my back. I added some memorylocks for memory, and to help with stability...I am loathe to overtighten anything since all is aluminum, not hardened steel. But, they are all double braced except for the snare...no need really.

Big Roto Toms...12" 14" 16" and 18". I collected them over the years and had them powdercoated so as to match. They sound great!

The guy on the phone said: "I'm calling because we need a guy who can play jazz fusion. We're into funk and jazz and rock n roll." OK I naively thought. So I tuned the kit high and prepared a set of jazz cymbals. Arrived early, set up and waited. I knew I was in trouble when the first hairy tattoo covered guy walked in and put in ear plugs and turned up his amp as high as it'd go. Fusion??? Nobody in the band knew who Chick Correa is. I said thanks but I am not right for this band. Anyway here is the kit from that day.

I love the Roto Tom kit. I never thought about replacing all of the standard toms with Roto's but a cool idea.

My Gretsch Catalina Maple kit second generation. Dark Cherry Burst
Toms 8, 10, 12, 14 (I have a 16 inch floor but I donít use it)
Snare 6x14
Bass 22x18
Wuhan Cymbals (donít laugh, these are great cymbals)

This kit offers a huge bang for the buck. Great sounding, beautiful, and fun to play. I use Remo Vintage Emps on the toms, an Evans EQ4 on the bass, and the snare is stock heads out of the box but with Puresound Blaster wires.

That's the way it can go...!
Nice setup, this would be your Sonor amboina snare I guess?

areFish: Your kit has so many awesome things about it. It's dark and mysterious with a bit of flair. If it were a comic book character, it would be Blade. Somewhat more blaxploitationy than the movies.
