Default Need help finding a head.

I am currently using Remo clear Pinstripe heads on my toms. I don't really like the sound of em and I am looking for some heads that are punchy. I hear that the Emperors are pretty punchy, but I don't know about any Evans heads that are punchy. Also, I have an Evans Genera Dry head on my snare. It's good for rim shots but, it's pretty boring without rim shots. I want something that's less dry than the Genera Dry. I hear that the Emperor X is pretty good, but I wouldn't know. I am thinking about Evans G2s but I don't know if they're punchy. I would also like a good recommendation for snare and tom resonant heads since, I have never bought any in my life. I still use the stock resonant heads.

How about Remo Powerstroke 3s for your toms?

Hey bud,

You're right on with what you've heard. I'm a major Evans fan. But, I can't ever use anything on my snare besides an Emperor X. Believe me when I say i've literally tried every snare head Evans makes. Nothing compares to Remo's emperor x to me.

Also, the G2s are absolutely incredible. Coated are a lot drier than the clears. If you have a birch kit I would never put coated heads on it. Right now I have EC2's on my drums, but it was just to see the hype. Theyre also very good and punchy, they just a little thinner sound than the G2s. I'll go back to G2s next time I change heads... and probably never stray from them again.

Quality resonant heads can make all the difference in the sound of a drum. This is a good demo by Mr. Bob Gatzen of how different resonant heads affect the sound of the drum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIcUBJrtKTg You really can't go wrong with a 10-mil single-ply clear head (Remo Ambassador or Evans G1). If you want to control the sound of your floor tom a little more, you can use a 2-ply clear head on the bottom.
