real name? Joe

how long been playing? almost 2 years :P
origin of user name? Originally in my band, Apnea, I was the bassist, and our ex-vocalist was drummer. I hated all of the music they liked (although the guitarist has acquired much better taste now), so I wanted to remain anonymous in the band, taking the pseudonym The Bassist. Not after long though, we kicked our ex-vocalist off of drums due his lack of skill, and I became drummer, and the name stuck for humor pretty much

make of drumkit? The electronic is a TD-3, and my acoustic is a 5 piece Premier APK of some sort with a 14" hi hat, an 18"medium crash, a 20" ping ride, and a 20" medium ride
make of cymbal? Zlidjian

are you in a band's? Apnea (main band, we kind of do our own stuff, idk what genre), Wintertide (very hard time meeting, we're supposed to be metal), and the most recent is called Shadows of Fate, which is prog-rock/metal
covers or originals? Not enough originals finished yet to only play them at shows, so both I guess
what style of music? Whatever
favourite take out food? Steak and cheese sub from anywhere
country? USA
one really odd fact about yourself?
how did you start drumming? Got my first drumset (electronic) in 2006 after watching a band's drummer a lot at a show, but didn't pick up interest until October of 2007 after playing my first real drumset at a friends house for fun.

gave up piano, we had a drum-kit but my brother had just given up, so I gave it a go.

how did you start drumming? When I was 5 years old my parents were in a band and the drummer always fascinated me. My mom was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan and had The Dance video which I watched and my interest in drumming grew. For my 6th birthday I got a used DB drums kit which i used primarily to collect dust un til earlier this year when I got rock band . I played that and started learning how to play for real. I still suck but I love it.

how did you start drumming? It's actually quite funny and sad. In 3rd grade we were allowed to join the orchestra. So I wanted to play violin, so we were all getting assigned our violins and it turned out they didn't have any that I could reach all the way out on. So depressed, I decided to play drums. The rest is history.

I'm Mitch, 16, from Torquay in Devon in the south of England

I've played drums since I was very little. I was 3 when my dad bought me a toy kit, which I smashed to pieces. I got my starter kit at 6, and have just recently bought a PDP X7 as my now full-time pro kit.

My dad bought me an 8" AAX splash for my 8th Christmas, and all my cymbals thereafter have been Sabian made. I have no personal preferences between different cymbal companies, Sabian was just the first thing I played and I've had no need to change. They get me a great sound, and that's all I care about.

I am looking to buy 4 more cymbals to complete my set-up. By my 17th birthday next March, I'm hoping my kit will look a little like the one in the set-up builder.

My Gear

Drums and Percussion
-PDP X7
-Bass : 18x22”
-Toms : 8x10", 9x12" 12x14" and 14x16"
-Snare (Premier) : 6x14"
-LP Rock Cowbell

Cymbals(Left to Right)
-14" HH Regular Hats
-16" AA Rock Crash
-10" HHX Splash
-18" AAX Stage Crash
-21" HH Raw Bell Dry Ride
-18" AAX Dark Crash
-18" HHX Chinese

Hardware -DW 4000 single pedal (hoping to upgrade to 5000 or 7000 double when I have the money)

Influences

Drummers
-Buddy Rich
-Tommy Aldridge
-Tommy Lee
-Dennis Chambers
-Dave Weckl
-Vinnie Paul Abbott

Bands
-80's Motley Crue
-Guns 'n' Roses
-Pantera
-Aerosmith
-Led Zep
-Van Halen
-80's/early 90's Metallica,

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile, happy to talk about drums n bands anytime... Mitch

Hey everyone,

I've just discovered this site, I've been playing drums for about 3 years since moving on from playing the bass, I'm 26 and live in Greater London. I play on a Mapex Pro M and have just purchased a Yamaha DTX to practice on at home, my motivation has been really fired up since finding this site so thanks alot!
