one really odd fact about yourself? I am a Computer Nerd by Day... Basketball wanna be at dusk.... And Rockstar by NIGHT... :) OKay so I am only a Computer Nerd and Basketball Wanna be!

how did you start drumming? I remember in the first grade listening to Christmas Music and hearing the drums and being impressed, I have always wanted to play, but could never afford it til I got out of high school... The day I caught Vinnie Pauls Drumstick in the Last Pantera tour I knew it was a sign from above and I needed to get in gear. So I bought a drumset with some money that I got from a friends car insurance after he tried to kill me in a 120 mph roll over accident. TOTALLY WORTH IT IF YOU ASK ME!!! Unfortunatly $1,000 doesn't get you much of a drumset.

At home and at the band's practice space.

Yes. (Least Among Equals)

Originals, with a very select few covers sprinkled in for fun at shows.

what style of music?
Yes. :D

favourite take out food?
Chinese

country?
U.S.

one really odd fact about yourself?
I'm not wearing shoes.

how did you start drumming?
As a kid I was surrounded by music. My dad played guitar and sang, and played in a house band in a pizza joint. At some point, I just started banging on things, so they would put me on their drummers' drum throne and hold me up so I could hit stuff. My parents bought me the little toy kits, but I would play them too much and too hard and the "heads" (thick paper, really) would bust. Eventually, an aunt found an old bass drum and gave it to me, so I'd beat on that. When I turned 7, my parents bought me my first "real" kit of my own (an old Percussion Plus 5 piece) and I just took off.

real name? Adam Southward

age? 32

how long been playing? 19 years off and on (incorporating a 13 year solid stint as a bassist)... Realistically though, 3 years.

origin of user name? I once worked as a ring announcer for a British Wrestling promotion. They gave me the pseudonym 'Adam South' for no apparent reason and it's stuck ever since!

top 5 drummers? Stewart Copeland, Dominic Howard, Keith Moon, Gilson Lavis, Don Henley (only because, like me, he sings and plays!)

make of drumkit? Tama Superstar Hyperdrive (In Brushed Metallic Blue!!!).

make of cymbal? Stagg Double Hammered- Cheap, but give a pretty decent tone and sustain.

where do you practice? A little studio in Blackpool!

are you in a band/s? Yeah, called The Same Mistakes (www.myspace.com/thesamemistakes2007)

covers or originals? Mostly original, a few covers thrown in.

what style of music? Hard to describe really... Modern Prog/Alternative/Rock about describes us. Someone very kindly labelled us 'Stadium Rock'. Not bad, considering there aren't any stadiums in Blackpool and we sure as hell have never played in one!!!

favourite take out food? Italian.

country? Don't really have one...

one really odd fact about yourself? Once had career advice from Jasmine St Claire (ex-porn actress). Not what you'd expect either...she told me to get into computers!

how did you start drumming? My dad was a drummer in the 60's. Always wanted to emulate him... At age 13 I got my first kit, and was in a band without a bassist. A guy came in as bass player who was actually a s*** hot drummer, much better than me at the time. Eventually I was ousted and shoved onto bass, which I played till about 28 full time (still play a bit today, write most of our bands songs with it!). When I moved into my own place 3 years ago, I decided to take up drums again and here I am now!

Dustin
22 Years Old
I have been playing for 8 years, I really got serious about 2 years ago and started to take lessons to learn the basics like rudiments.
There is nothing special about my user name.
My favorite drummers are Benny Greb, John Bonham, Johnny Rabb, and my teacher Billy Angelo Stella.
I have a Yamaha Stage Custom, thats about 6 years old.
Zildjian is the only brand cymbal I use. They cost me more than my set.
My kit is in my apartment but has mutes on it, so it's sort of a pain, but I practice everywhere and anywhere I can. I have my practice pad in my lap when I'm on the couch. I am always tapping on everything I can.
I used to be in a band, but now I don't have the time with a full time job.
My favorite bands are The Mars Volta, and Led Zeppelin.
My favorite food is a turkey sandwich, I eat a variety of one everyday.
USA.
I started drumming after seeing a band in junior high, and being fascinated by the drummer. I have been an addict ever since then.

real name- Andreas
age- 20
how long been playing- 2 1/2 years
origin of user name- Name generator... many years ago I stumbled across one, and it suggested AeroAcronomic... I researched Acronomic and liked it, stuck with it since.
top 5 drummers- Gavin Harrison, Martin Lopez (ex Opeth), Johan Langell (ex Pain of Salvation) - Those are my favorites, there are others I like but I don't really know much about them.
make of drumkit- Pearl
make of cymbal- Sabian
where do you practice- At home
are you in a band- 2 bands. 1 I that is not active at the moment and 1 band that just exchanges ideas and the like - we don't even live close to eachother.
what style of music- Mostly progressive and experimental, but I also enjoy blues/funk type of playing.
country- Norway
how did you start drumming- I developed an interest in rhythm, so I started drumming with my hands, not really knowing anything about how a drumkit worked. Then a few months later, my parents helped me fund a drumkit.

Not yet. Vermont doesn't have much going here, and well I'm a contract engineer, so I'm always moving around the country every year or so

covers or originals?
N/A

what style of music?
Looking to do funk, soul, R&B, jazz

favourite take out food?
country?
USA

one really odd fact about yourself?
I can balance a drumstick on my finger, and then put it on my nose, all without taking a break. This led to drumsticks on my chin, and eventually larger objects, like chairs and bar stools etc.

how did you start drumming?
I kept sneaking onto my older brother's drumset, until one day he gave me the drumset. I then took marching band in highschool to learn the rudiments, as well as practicing drumset every day, self-taught. Jazz Ensemble in college while studying to become an electrical engineer. Off and on ever since, mostly off.

Drummer World is definitely a motivation for me to get back into practice. When I look at my join date, it corresponds with my picking up the sticks again, after 5 years of not playing at all. (tapping with my fingers and feet has kept my coordination in place)

Stephanie

Hello Liam! Greetings and welcome to DrummerWorld. How did you find us? As Beat's said... feel free to post about any concerns, questions, information about drumming or not about drumming. Also, as mentioned by Beat's... check out the search box up at the top on the information bar. It will more than likely touch on any topic that you have questions or wanna talk about. Just type in your interest and click "Go."

I have been drumming for the better half of 24 years. I was born with it I guess. My grandmother was a drummer and I guess she passed it on to me.

So, you have been drumming for 10 months now huh? Are you taking lessons? What style of music are you leaning towards learning? I hope you enjoy your time here.

Peace!

Cool... lessons are the way to go buddy! Stick with em. Oh, just to let you know... one of the Administrators will probably move this thread to the (Your Place- Introduce Yourself) section very shortly. So, if you can't find it here in the General Discussion, it will be over there soon. Become familiar with the menus.

I myself am into Rock, Indie and Alternative as well. But, I wouldn't label my taste to just such. I guess... its more a fusion of rock/jazz/metal. If that even makes sense.. lol.

Concerning lessons... what are you currently learning?
