Well I'm not quite torn apart yet... but I AM anxious to see the final result.
All in all I will have waited about 5 to 6 months for my snare, which is longer than it should have taken... but compare that to the waiting time on the extra floortom on my off-the-shelf, mass-produced-in-china Tama Superstar kit, which was also 6 months, it's still acceptable (remember: this is a custom drum). Especially considering there were some troubles along the way with the hardware. I have heard of much longer waiting times on drum kits.

Yes, it is a long time to wait but like you said, order a drum from the "big companies" tama, pearl, dw, etc., and you will have just as long of a wait time (or possibly longer). Order a Unix drum and you will get a one of a kind work of art with lots of attention to detail. In my opinion you couldn't ask for a nicer person to do business with than Frank at Unix Drums. The wait time will be so worth it in the end. It should be really soon for both of us now. :)

Congratulations on the new snares guys!!!... Franks drums are beyond incredible!

I don't know if "functional works of art" is even an accurate enough description, as his drums somehow manage to sound better than they look!!! which is kind of mind-blowing.

I just finished up in the studio with my Unix Bubinga kit (there will be a thread soon with sound clips for those interested) and it was an absolute dream under a microphone, I've literally never had an easier time getting the sounds I wanted. Stave drums have such a wide tuning range and Franks bearing edges are flawless, so his drums dial in effortlessly.

I'm just about to place an order for a 20" Floor Tom to go with the kit he built me.

I hope so :) And I agree with you on the wait time being worth it. I never did doubt that :D

Your snare is done, and ready to be shipped. I'm trying to configure my new email box and I can't, aparently I'm a computer dummy.

I will try to send you pics by monday, if I can't email, do you mind me posting them here. Sadly, 6 month will be my new delevery time. Sometime, I can do faster, but since it's custom work, I prefer to take all the time to achive the best product possible.

I will annouce it on all board, but if you guys want to cummunicate with me don't use concepunix@aei.ca anymore, that adress is down.

Wow! That's a beautiful snare. Is it on it's way to Holland right now? I am very curious what it sounds like. If you should describe the sound, what would it be like Frank?

It looks beautiful! I really like the black accents on the shell, like I envisioned it indeed!
Is it on it's way to the netherlands yet? (And does your e-mail work yet?)

The more I stare at the photo, the more anxious I get to play that baby... When it arrives, I'll be sure to post another dozen pictures of it, and some sound clips if I can.

Not yet - I haven't heard from Frank in a couple of days either. But we needed to figure out the shipping quote first. I now need to make the final payment and am waiting for bank information to make the transfer. After that it shouldn't be long - it will be mailed by air. Anyone know how long that normally takes? A week, maybe two?

Now let's pray it isn't flown by United Airlines:

Great looking drum.

Does anyone remember when banks actually cared about their customers?

When you have an obscene amount of money in your account. I imagine they'll be able to find you then.

That would be exactly why they don't call me back, I'm damn poor...

That will change slightly as soon as I make my final payment... but for that to happen they need to call you, but for that to happen you need more money... A vicious circle.
They might give you a call if you exceed your credit limit but that's a long shot. I'd rather wait a bit longer than see you go bankrupt ;)

The stupid thing is I actually had your bank information earlier (back in june / july), but I sometimes clean up my inbox. Could have known I should have kept that...

Yeah I haven't been particularly lucky with this build so far... slow bank transfers, slow hardware delivery to unix, now once again a slow bank transfer. Almost seems like this thing is jinxed. But it'll be worth it when the drum arrives.

Latest news is the final payment arrived at Unix. Dang, banks work slow these days. But at least this means my snare will finally be on the way.
