I have a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive, which pretty much means a 12x7.5 rack tom in birch. This results in a shorter, more punchy note. I've already tried out coated G2's on it, but they were just too dry for me and my needs. I still love that coated sound though, so I was wondering if a coated Ambassador on the batter side would still dry it out too much?

tuning changes first, but honestly a Clear Pinstripe might give you a good, wet, fat, punchy sound, worth a try...

Well, I picked up some Coated Ambs just the other day and tuned 'em up.
I'm officially converted, they have a tone I never would've been able to achieve with the Evans.
