Default Need help with snare head choice?

I need to replace the head on my 14" x 5.5" steel snare that came with my kit. I don't like the sound now because it is to bright but I think that's because its steel. I want it to sound warmer and deeper. I play metal and hit hard so I need something that is going to stand up to that.

Maybe try looking into the Evans Genera Dry line of heads. I've got a friend who has a Pearl Sensitone steel snare, he put an EC1 Reversed Dot head (Still too ringy, and I've never liked the head) on then tried a Genera Dry head, and it sounds a whole lot more controlled. Honestly that thing (snare drum) was way too loud to where you either had to control your sticking on the snare, or hit harder on the toms to even out the volume.

I myself am using the Genera HD Dry head, and I love the damn thing. Really controlled sustain and ring. And I've got my tuning down pretty well, but I wanted something I didn't need to moongel and could beat the life out of. Which is what I really like about the head, it FEELS sturdy.

I'd go for a Evans EC Reverse Dot Snare Drumhead
or a Evans Genera Drumhead in this case.

A Remo Emperor X will lessen the brightness a bit and is very durable.
