Default Shaker Pedal

So I was watching the Colbert Report weeks ago and David Byrne was the guest. During one song his drumset player was playing on a cajon and then I noticed he was playing a shaker with his foot. The shaker was hooked up to a foot pedal I've been searching the net trying to find this item but no luck.

Does anyone know if anybody makes a pedal like this or was it something he rigged up?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi I had a look online at clip and from what i can make out it's a bass pedal but instead of a regular beater it has a shaker. You could do this quite easliy if you took a shaker poked a hole in it put the other end of a regular beater or a piece of rod and tape it on. After seeing this i might tape one to my pedal on the bottom and use it as a normal pedal with a off beat shaker. Might see you on dragons den soon with your invention.
Hope this helps
Kevin

the pedal exists, I've seen it in an online store once.

It's a Meinl Foot Cabasa

Offcourse DMC has already made one for himself:

Thanks a lot guys.

The pedal used by David Byrne's drummer is not a cabasa, but I still like that idea as well. I'll have to get an old pedal and shaker and try what you were talking about Kevin.

Thanks again,
Jeremy
