Hihat stand squeaks

I have a DW5000 hihat stand that has started squeaking. The sound seems to originate from the top of the stand.

Is there a recommended lubricant for this problem?

Also check the rod make sure it isn't bent.

I personally find that WD40 works really well on hardware, its a spray lubricant.

I was afraid that a wet lubricant might gum up things, I'll try out the WD40 that I have. Thanks for the replies!
