Default DW Finishply question

So I picked up a used set of DW Collectors Maple from '97 (Keller Shells), and the finishply is starting to come off. It doesn't look like it when the heads are on, but there are cracks, and it is slowly peeling. I am already considering taking my drums to a five star shop nearby me to get them re-edged, and i was thinking they could also maybe refinish the drums and remove the wrap, unless it is easy enough for me to do it myself. I love these drums, but I don't want to ruin them. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Here's a vid, you decide how easy it is. If you've got the cake, let the shop do it. Nothings easy and your first time usually ain't gonna be fun.

Personally i don't think you should cut your teeth on expensive drums like DWs, really that's what cheap drums are for. I agree that if you can afford it, you're probably best off leaving it to the professionals.

I would agree with Les and Eddie. You never know what is hidden under that wrap or what you may run into. If it were me and DW or me and My Renowns, off to a pro I would go. But watch the video Les was kind enough to post and see what you think.
