B8 isn't an upgrade. Save your money and buy cast cymbals, AA, AAX, HH, HHX, Vault etc, otherwise you're just switching from one brand of beginner cymbals to another.

I love sabian, but do not buy the b8 pack. Go with either a Paiste alpha set, or paiste PST5
set (ican get u these cymbals cheap im a paiste dealer) but zildjian all t heir zbt/zht etc lines arent as good as paistes. You'd have to go with zildjian a custom packs or z customs , but those command a much higher price point. same can be said with the Sabian AA or HH lines, aax and hhx. dollar for dollar the Paiste sets are better sounding and much lower price point.

Or wait to get Zildjian Z3's that are coming out in June. They sounded better than Z Customs

"Any suggestions for a new cymbal pack?"
Yes. Don't get a cymbal pack. Save up. Get one cymbal at a time if you have to. Look used. Get nothing but fine instruments. If your tastes change at least they'll keep their resale value. |

Unless you're just starting out drumming (which you're not) and just want to be able to play something, that would be the only reason I could think of why you would need to buy a cymbal pack. Other wise just take your time and look around for used cymbals that are in good condition and going for a low price. FYI, I recently purchased a 20" Sabian AAX Stage Ride off of ebay for $80, the damn thing retails at around $260. Besides, you may get the cymbal pack and only like the sound of one cymbal, I've got that issue. I picked up the ZBT 3 pack (bought it just so I could play one something like I stated above), and in all actuality I really only like the 18" Crash/Ride which is a better crash than it is a ride.

anyway, i would recommend ATLEAST paiste alphas, but since you have been playing for a while, I would recommend either Sabian cast or Zildjian cast cymbals. Look at Zildjian As and Z Customs. |

Hi Davy.
If you want to IMPROVE your set, B8s is not your way...And all depends on your budget...If sabian is your choice, xs20 is a real improvment...(the bad: you may like hihats and crash, but not the ride..as I usually read about people who got this set)..Pst 5 (economic and very decents cymbals) or alphas are good choices too... but about zildjians, a set of A custom or avedis may be too expensive for you...ZHT is another good alternative.. Go and test them, play them, Your taste must decide too... LUCK... |
